TESCO hardly needs an introduction, being one of the world's largest international retail chains. Its Hungarian subsidiary has been present on the market since 1994 and has become, over the past decades, the second-largest British investor and employer in the country.

TESCO sought to modernise the existing cooling systems at four of its sites, and selected the Oxycom PreCooll single-circuit adiabatic pre-cooling system with wetted media for the purpose. The project began with the Siófok store — during the pilot phase, our technicians used a data-logging PLC to test the system's operating parameters, together with the rooftop unit's own energy consumption and cooling capacity.
The Siófok system has continued to perform as expected ever since: it operates on standard mains water, the self-cleaning cassettes carry out their function perfectly, and the cooling wall also acts as a form of pre-filter on the unit, effectively capturing airborne dust and poplar fluff. The pre-cooled rooftop unit has moreover required no cleaning since installation, in contrast to the other heat exchangers, which need cleaning three to four times a year. TESCO's satisfaction is confirmed by the fact that, following the Siófok pilot project, they selected Oxyma's innovative, sustainable solution for three further stores as well.
Given that the pilot project proved successful, at three further stores TESCO modernised the refrigeration systems of its entire commercial cooling operation — including refrigerated display cabinets and cold rooms — with pre-cooling installed upstream of the condensers.
