Combating airborne contaminants and extreme summer heat with a two-stage adiabatic cooling and ventilation system

At Filtrona's plant in Szigetszentmiklós, significant quantities of carbon dust, general dust, plastic fluff and other harmful substances accumulated in the capsule hall, posing a considerable risk not only to production efficiency but also to the health of employees.

Addressing the problem therefore called first and foremost for appropriate ventilation, which was provided by ten decentralised, rooftop-type IntrCooll units installed by Oxyma Systems and designed to meet specific requirements. The system is capable of exchanging the hall's air volume up to seven times per hour, thereby thoroughly ventilating away contaminants. The IntrCooll units naturally also provide efficient cooling, consistently maintaining an indoor climate of 26 °C with a relative humidity of no more than 60%. An all-in-one water treatment station was also installed as part of the system, providing the complete clean water supply within a single unit.

Oxyma's energy specialists were able to secure HUF 55 million in TAO (corporate income tax) relief and approximately HUF 25 million in EEOS support for Filtrona in connection with the investment. Together with the annual reduction of nearly HUF 60 million in cooling costs, this represented an enormous saving for the company, reducing the payback period of the entire project to less than one year.
